HISTORY

I
Build By Faith strives to connect people in America who want
to serve others by working to meet the mental, physical, emotional,
and shelter needs of people globally. We accomplish these goals
by designing short-term mission trips with eager professionals
who want to share their gifts and talents with remote and regional
organizations and ministries. Honestly, I Build By Faith! That’s
how I came up with the name because I personally do not know
how so much has been done except by faith.
ABOUT
THE FOUNDER
I regularly pray about
my next mission trip. My goal is always to provide for a need
after careful consultation with partners in other countries.
My expertise is construction but I extend invitations to others
who skills will benefit the mission. Teams consist of doctors,
nurses, counselors, educators, recreation specialist, and able
bodies to help with the construction work.
During
my previous trips, my teams were able to use individual gifts
and talents to impact lives and experience a life changing opportunity.
I didn’t know how we would raise the necessary money but
God provided just what we needed to carry out the work we did.
Could we enlist you as a prayer partner? I believe by faith
He will do it again. People feeling led by God to give would
make it possible for lives to be changed and communities to
be repaired and rebuilt. Any
donation will be appreciated because this is an ongoing mission
that has grown beyond what I can contribute alone. Your donation
will be tax deductible through The New Olivet Baptist Church.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support.
Dwayne is a native of
Memphis, Tennessee where he spends most of his time working
in the mission field of the inner City mentoring and partnering
with others to rebuild inner City communities.
Dwayne has worked with
the Orange Mound Development and Binghampton Development organizations
to renovate single family and multi-family units. His construction
company has built new single family affordable and luxury homes.
Construction has been a vehicle to train young men forgotten
and abandoned due to legal issues, lack of reliable transportation,
or having no marketable skills. Dwayne has the ability to reach
these individuals and offer them an opportunity to rebuild their
lives while rebuilding Memphis communities.
Dwayne and Bishop Isaac
Akorli started a unique friendship via e-mail in 2003 that has
expanded opportunities for Dwayne and Bishop Isaac. Their ability
to overcome cultural difference, time zones, and sometimes telecommunication
failures have strengthened their dedication to continue global
community building through construction, business incubation,
orphanage development, vocational schools, medical care, feeding
programs, and ministry through Preaching of the Word of God,
dance, and teachings on true worship.
This
vision has grown and Dwayne has been called to the nations to
rebuild communities world-wide. Dwayne has taken trips to Ghana
and Togo West Africa with plans for trips to Haiti and other
countries in Africa to expand his mission areas. Building vocational
training schools, orphanages, and clinics are the focus of Dwayne’s
mission trips.
Dwayne
has a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee State University
in Architectural Engineering, a Masters of Management from the
University of Phoenix, and is currently a doctoral candidate
in Organizational Management. Dwayne seeks opportunities to
gain knowledge to further his dream of becoming a global community
builder. Dwayne
is a licensed general contractor and owner of Dwayne A. Jones
Construction Company and the Prevailing Wage Project Manager
for the City of Memphis.
Reverend
Dwayne A. Jones is an ordained preacher at The New Olivet Baptist
Church in Memphis, Tennessee, under the leadership of Pastor
Kenneth T. Whalum, Jr. and mission department director Deacon
Preston King. Dwayne has taken coursework towards earning a
Masters of Divinity degree at Memphis Theological Seminary.
Dwayne’s previous
trips to Ghana and Togo West Africa benefited the people in
Africa as well as his mission team members. The gifts and talents
of each team member has yielded HIV/AIDS education, teaching
and playing games with the local children, visits to orphanages
and schools, basic medical assessments and treatment, and home
repair and new construction projects. Partners in Africa include
Amazing Grace Gospel International, Habitat for Humanity Global
Village, West African AIDS Foundation, and many area churches.
Dwayne and Bishop Isaac Akorli founder of Amazing Grace Gospel
International have opened a vocational training school, hair
care business, participated in BAMM (Bust-A-Move-Monday), baptized
and preached to thousands, and worked on a proposal for funding
from World Orphans.
With your support I will
continue to lead teams where others dream or dare to go because
I build by faith.
